The Anxious Artist

This whole project began with one vague question: How does the physical act of making affect the mental state of anxiety?

Even from the age of 5, I can remember being very anxious. I would run from loud noises, I didn't like doing things spontaneously, and my active imagination would more often get the better of me in the worst way possible. But, it was also my imagination which helped me. It was through drawing that I was able to meditate on my anxious feelings, and deal with them by making them into a solid object rather than a mess of craziness in my head.

Now my big question was: Was I alone in my coping mechanism, or were there other people who dealt with their anxiety creatively? I spent four months researching and developing prototypes to answer this inquiry, which materialized into dozens of small "Anxiety Kits", the purpose of which are to allow people to productively meditate on their anxiety through making.
